Types ▬ After Images |
 |
| |
|
After
images cause you to see motion and colour where
there is none.
An optical illusion of this type
may ask you to look at a brightly coloured, then look at a plain piece of
white paper. You would see an after image of the
that image in the right colours. Looking at
some of these images and then looking away
causes you to see spots where none exist.
There
are simply after images, or images that your eye
hangs onto for awhile even after you are done
looking at something. There are both black and
white and colour after images, as well as motion
after images.

Stare at the grey dot in the centre for 30 seconds and move your head forward and backward.
As your head moves closer to your monitor and then back away
from your monitor, the circles will appear to be spinning. |
If your eyes follow the movement of the rotating
pink dot, the dots will remain only one colour, pink. However if you stare at the black "+" in the
centre, the moving dots turns to green. Now, concentrate on the black "+" in the
centre of the picture. After a short period, all
the pink dots will slowly disappear, and you
will only see only a single green dot rotating.
It's
amazing how our brain works. There really is no
green dot, and the pink ones really don't
disappear. This should be proof enough, we don't
always see what we think we see. |
